Rutabaga Fact: Rutabagas being a cross between Turnips and Cabbage is evident in the flavor. The taste is a bit milder than a turnip's when raw, almost like a carrot. Rutabagas are buttery and sweet-savory, though still a bit bitter, when cooked. They taste a bit like Yukon Gold potatoes with a lot of attitude! Our Rutabags come waxed, and are either 1 large Rutabaga or 2 small.
We like to treat Rutabagas like potatoes and mash them! Just do as you would if you were making mashed potatoes--But at the very end add in some Butter, Sour Cream, salt and pepper and fresh Dill! The creaminess of the Rutabaga, the zip of the Sour Cream, and the herby notes of the Dill are a match made in heaven!
